Christmas with Friends returns to Wolfville featuring Rachel MacLean, Kim Stockwood and Dave Gunning
Christmas With Friends takes place Sunday, Dec. 8, at 7 pm, at University Hall in Wolfville. Tickets are $25 and available at all Valley Save Easy and Pharmasave locations, Acadia Box Office, 542-550, and Stirling Fruit Farms.
Yuletide favourites and heartwarming stories lift up holiday spirits as multiple ECMA award winners and Juno nominees join host and performer MacLean for Christmas with Friends in Wolfville.
Stockwood is an accomplished artist who has been in the public eye for more than a decade. Her versatility and talent make her a highly sought-after entertainer, performer, writer and host. Her latest recording, Back to the Water, won the 2012 ECMA Award for Roots/Traditional Recording of the Year. She has recorded and released two solo pop records, two records with the trio Shaye and a solo Christmas recording, I Love Santa. She has performed on tour with the likes of Willie Nelson and on television in a four-part reality series with Shaye. She has an impressive musical track record with smash hits like Jerk, 12 Years Old” and Happy Baby.
Gunning broke on the music scene in 1997. The Pictou County-born and bred singer-songwriter and working class hero has built up from humble beginnings to a point where his name is regularly included in conversation with artists such as David Francey, James Keelaghan, Ron Hynes, Stan Rogers, Bruce Cockburn and Gordon Lightfoot. Writing from a sonic menu that includes flavors of Irish, Scottish, folk and country musical styles, Dave transcends genre with songs that fill your senses and touch your soul. Dave has ten critically acclaimed CDs to his credit. His previous release, A tribute to John Allan Cameron, was honoured with a prestigious 2012 Juno Award nomination and was the winner of two 2011 Canadian Folk Music Awards and two ECMA Awards.
MacLean has been the host performer of this annual Christmas tradition since its inception in 2010. She has shared the stage with Dan Hill, Bruce Guthro, Terry Kelly and many other talented artists. She recently released her first solo CD, Beyond The Rain, and has five successful independent albums recorded with The MacLeans. She has appeared on television, radio and toured extensively on Canada’s east coast.
